Job Description

The Business Analytics Manager is within the BioProduction Division (BPD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The primary function of this role is to analyze biopharmaceutical market trends along with internal performance data. The successful candidate will work independently and in collaboration with the marketing, field applications, and commercial teams to develop market strategies and establish commercial actions necessary to achieve our divisional goals. S/He will understand the customer and competitive market that BioProduction operates within and have exceptional strategic development and execution skills paired with organizational skills and business acumen to achieve goals on time. Additionally, the market assessments done by the Business Analytics Manager play a critical role in supporting R&D and Product Management in identifying new product development opportunities. The scope of the role is global and will involve communication and coordination with regional leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic initiative implementation as outlined in the BioProduction commercial A3, including the build-out of additional initiative-focused A3s. Identify resources to participate in the completion of the initiatives.
  • Recommend and execute the implementation of new approaches to the current plan and strategy.
  • Independently analyze and interpret industry and internal data to drive strategic and tactical decisions within BPD. Provide concise market analyses.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technology trends and innovations in the industry, ensuring that relevant information is circulated within our organization in an effective and timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain tools (such as dashboards) to support the business.
  • Interact with varying levels of internal and external personnel including direct customer communication and public presentation.
  • Gathers feedback from customers, global and other regional counterparts, and field commercial teams to identify new market trends and opportunities. Uses this information to provide input to broader business/market development strategies to drive a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Travel as necessary to visit customers, attend technical meetings, and participate in internal meetings (up to 50% travel globally).
  • May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in life sciences, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of industry experience in biotechnology, with a strong analytical background.
  • Expert in PowerBI.
  • Has working knowledge of bioprocessing applications, customer biologic development and manufacturing processes, and knowledge of BioProduction competitors.
  • Has to be able to work cross-functionally and with a variety of business needs and expectations; familiar with matrix organizations.
  • Ability to work on problems of routine to diverse scope.
  • Self-motivated and proactive. Able to work independently with limited day-to-day supervision of the manager.
  • Strong business acumen and customer focus are essential.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and has the ability to communicate internally and externally with different businesses and management levels.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters/PhD in a data sciences and/or MBA in business analytics.
